My delivery has arrived damaged. What should I do?

I have never ordered anything. Why do I receive a prescription?

Call your TCM specialist to find out why they sent you the prescription.

Can I order a prescription by telephone?

Patients can reorder by telephone if we have a corresponding prescription on file. Prescribers must submit a written prescription (e-mail, fax, letter).

Will my health insurance cover the cost of TCM medicines?

TCM prescriptions are billed via supplementary insurance. Most supplementary insurances cover the costs. To be on the safe side, ask your health insurance company whether it covers the costs of TCM phytotherapy.

What do I have to submit to my supplementary insurance?

You must pay the invoice directly to us. Then send the 'Reimbursement voucher' section of the invoice together with a copy of your prescription to your supplementary insurance company. Both receipts are enclosed with our delivery to you.

Would it be possible for Complemedis to bill my health insurance company directly?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Our invoices always go to the patients, never directly to health insurance companies or insurers, as we do not know which insurance model the patients have.

My doctor is a TCM specialist. Why are the herbs still not covered by basic insurance?

The basic insurance pays doctors with a TCM licence for their own services, for example acupuncture or the issuing of a herbal prescription. Unfortunately, it does not pay for the herbs themselves. The herbs may be paid for by the patient's supplementary insurance.

I have supplementary insurance. Nevertheless, it does not want to pay for my TCM remedies

In contrast to basic insurance, every supplementary insurer is free to pay what it likes and this is described in detail in your policy. You need to take a close look at what the insurer promises to pay. Obtain various quotes from different providers. There are often several variants on offer from each insurer. Here are some reasons why the insurance company may not pay out:

  • The TCM specialist who wrote the prescription is not recognised by the insurance company.
  • Your supplementary insurance does not include TCM herbs in the benefits catalogue.
  • You have a deductible in the insurance conditions, i.e. you pay a certain amount per year yourself. Only when this amount is reached does the insurance company pay.
  • You have a deductible, i.e. the health insurance fund pays at most part of the amount.
  • You have both a deductible and an excess. The health fund pays nothing or only a little.
  • You have a limit, i.e. you have exceeded the amount that the insurer guarantees to pay per year. You can only expect further benefits in the following year.
  • When you took out the insurance, you forgot to say that you already had back pain, for example. If the insurer really means you harm, this is a reason to cancel your supplementary insurance. There's not much you can do about it.
  • You may have stated that you had back pain (or something else) when you took out the insurance, but the insurer will make a reservation, i.e. it will not pay for anything to do with back pain. If you're lucky, the insurer will only block benefits for back pain for a certain period of time.
  • Be careful if the supplementary insurer tries to sell you another product. Supposed advantages may turn out to be to your disadvantage due to other disadvantages.

I don't have supplementary insurance. How do I get one?

Get quotes from different providers and take a close look at whether the often very different offers correspond to what you expect. Each insurer also usually has different variants. It is best to take out supplementary insurance when you are young and in good health.

No supplementary insurer wants me. Why?

The risk is too high for the insurer. Reasons may be:

  • You have indicated complaints in the application form that represent a risk for the insurer.
  • The insurer has discovered that you have been receiving treatment elsewhere or under basic insurance for a long time for complaints that could also result in costs under supplementary insurance.
  • The insurer has discovered that you have been receiving treatment elsewhere for a long time for complaints that you forgot to report in the registration form or concealed.
  • They are too old for the insurance company. From a certain age, supplementary insurance companies will hardly accept you. It is best to take out supplementary insurance when you are young and in good health.
  • Never cancel a supplementary insurance policy until you have a definite commitment to take out a new one.
  • Be careful if the supplementary insurer tries to persuade you to take out another product. Supposed advantages can turn out to be to your disadvantage due to other disadvantages.
