I have got diarrhoea. What should I do?

The most common complaint regarding side effects of herbs is indigestion. Herbs can be heavy on the stomach in sensitive people or cause diarrhoea or other digestive problems. Diarrhoea is not uncommon. But be careful: sometimes diarrhoea is intentional, because according to TCM it removes toxins and eliminates them in this way. A popular recipe for cystitis contains diarrhoea-causing agents. This is intentional. If diarrhoea occurs to a disturbing extent, reducing the dose may help. Patients are best advised to contact their TCM prescribers to find out whether diarrhoea is necessary or how it should be treated.

The colour of the stool or urine may also change, but this is not usually a cause for concern unless it persists for a long time. If you are unsure, contact the prescribing TCM specialist.

The TCM remedy gives me a stomach ache. What should I do? I get belching, what should I do? I have lost my appetite since taking TCM medicine, what should I do?

Some TCM remedies are intended to nourish the body with important nutrients. It is possible that these may affect patients with a sensitive stomach or sluggish digestion and cause various disorders. Try reducing the dose. If this is not enough, contact the prescribing TCM specialist. A slight change to the formula often helps.

I have an allergy to certain foods. Can I take TCM remedies?

Allergies can also rarely occur with certain TCM herbs. Tell the prescribing TCM specialist what you are allergic to. She will then avoid herbs that are similar to these.

If you are allergic to a TCM remedy, report this to the prescribing TCM specialist. If you cannot reach them, please contact us. If the allergic reaction is severe and your TCM person cannot be contacted, consult your family doctor immediately or go to an emergency ward.

Can I get tablets or capsules instead of powder?

We can also tablet your granule mixture for a small extra charge. The person who prescribes your prescription can make a note of this when ordering at your request. We can do the tableting from 100 grams. The tableting order must be available when the order is received. It is not possible to tablet afterwards. Unfortunately, you cannot send the mixture back to us for tableting. Complemedis does not currently offer capsules, but what is not yet possible can still be. We will let you know when the time comes.

I didn't understand my TCM specialist correctly. Can you help me?

Please consult your doctor or TCM therapist.

My prescription has expired. Can I still order?

You need a new prescription from your TCM specialist. Advance payment can only be guaranteed in exceptional cases.

What is TCM?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is now so well known that we won't go into further detail here. You can read about it in a specialised book or quickly on Wikipedia or on the website of a person who practices TCM. The internet is full of more or less good reports. Recommended books are, for example, those by the authors Johannes Bernot or Dr Fritz Friedl. You can find them in our shop or in (online) bookshops.

Where can TCM help?

There is no condition, no complaint, no illness for which TCM cannot be used, be it to achieve a higher performance in physical and mental issues, be it to alleviate or cure an illness. It is best to seek out a person experienced in TCM who will be happy to advise you.

Where can I find a TCM specialist?

At https://www.tcm-therapeuten.ch... and https://akupunktur-tcm.ch/allgemein/aerzteliste/ you can find a TCM specialist near you. There are:

  • Doctors with a TCM specialist certificate
  • Non-physician TCM therapists, mostly with a federal certificate of specialisation
  • Chinese who have completed a TCM university degree in China and work here mostly as non-physician TCM specialists.

I have to undergo chemotherapy. Is this compatible with TCM prescriptions?

TCM remedies should not be given at the same time as chemotherapy. As a rule of thumb, TCM remedies should be discontinued the day before chemotherapy and only taken again the day after chemotherapy. It may be handled differently in individual cases. The TCM specialist who wrote your prescription will be able to advise you. Please contact them.
